Mermaid Tail for Colour Arte Design Team

Hello crafty friends! These is a special project I did for Colour Arte to join their design team. I love their paints (especially the Vivid Ultra Metallics line). For this project I am highlighting Vivid Colours: African Jade, Jasmine and Blue Bayou.

Using Liqutex Pouring Medium and very little silicone, I was able to create these awesome cells.

And to give it some texture, I added Art Stone and Mini Art Stones.

Also I decided to add some Metal Leaf, however it did not stay gold. but I still loved how it absorbed the blue coloring.

And then the mermaid tail... I was trying to find a mold to use but I couldn't find one I like, so I decided to look at some tutorials and sculpt it instead.

Here are some more close ups of the cells that are created by using Silicone Oil.

Colorful Creations Summer Blog HOP!

Welcome to the Colorful Creation’s I Love Summer Blog Hop.  You should have come from Toccara's blog .  If you have stumbled across this by chance and want to play along then you can head back to the Colorful Creations site to start at the beginning and to start collecting your challenge words. These words should be bolded on each DT member’s blog.  You should visit each member’s blog and collect each word to complete the quote.  Once you have completed the quote, please leave it in the comment section of the Colorful Creations Blog Hop post.

For this summer fun project I altered this cute wooden bicycle I found at my local thrift store.

Using some Prima IOD Moulds and fast Amazing Casting Resin, I was able to shape the piece around the handle bars and tied lace to it.

Using gesso as the first coat then sprayed the entire bike with Prima shimmery teal spray.

I arraigned the flowers to look like they were coming out of the bucket using foam and artificial moss and hot glue as the adhesive.

These are just some artificial flowers from the craft store.

I also attached and sprayed a lace applique and flowers to give a vintage shabby look.

These are some tiny glass bottles that I stuffed with pieces of music sheet. And below is chipboard that I flipped upside down to look like a basket and attached some feathers to it.

I hope this project inspires you to do more mixed media and that it make you FEEL like summer is in the air. For a full video tutorial Click Here:

Mixed Media ATCs

Something old with sometime new was this challenge theme. These are some ATCs I created using some old stamps and stickers I had in my stach and some new paints.

To give texture to the background, I used cheesecloth and modeling paste through a stencil.

Also using some stamps, I embossed image to create some resist.

Using some Inka Gold Wax to highlight the high points to give some definition.

Colorful Creations May 15th Challenge

This challenge was this:
What inspires you to be the creator you are, what inspires your creativity, your goals dreams, what or who keeps you grounded. Think of a person, place, music, season, etc. Create something that inspires you. Along with who inspires you, use your favorite embellishments!

I chose to make an alteration using music as my inspiration.

I found this cute mini music stand at an estate sale.

I embellished it with some of my favs: lace, mica flake, metal filigree, and art stones from Finnabair.

I also love to add inspirational quotes to my work.

and finish with some splatter.

Using some light paste though a stencel and painting with Metalique and Opal paints.

Adding a little rust paste with patina paint to give more interest to the stand.

May 1st Colorful Creations Challenge

This challenge was to think Throwback. Something that suddenly reminds you of something in the past this could be in the form of throwback papers you have, embellishments, tools, throwback themed papers, colors, photos, memorabilia ANYTHING that will help you express any of your favorite past times.

I decided to use some free laminate floor sample I found at Home Depot.

My throwback products were some old stickers that did not have much stick left on it.

I also decided to use my alcohol inks that I haven't played with in a long time.

Just to give a little more dimension and texture I used Finnabair Crackle Texture Paste and Art Stones.

Colorful Creations April 15th Challenge DT

For this mid month challenge we created a project using only items that start with the first letter of your first name. Challenge

I started with a wooden letter "I" that my husband just nailed together for me.

Then I decided I wanted to use the color ivory as the theme, and for products and embellishments I used the following:
Ivory Lace, ivory flowers, Ice Resin, Idea-ology rub on, Iron Orchard Design mould, Inka Gold, and liquetex Inks. Full video tutorial is below.
